There was only 1 person now and then asking for linux. What was implemented some time ago (and maybe now broken) was serverdoc ran on a windows machine but controlled the linux servers via a telnet session.

After setting up uor host ip, username and pass in serverdoc config to run a linux command use lx: in command line, ie lx:/home/myname/myserver/program

Hello, is there more detailed info for this?
I'm getting CentOS linux server, and I really want to still use serverdoc for this.

Thanks, Johan.

What else are you after?

Main thing is ensure the windows machine running serverdoc has telnet access to the linux box - recommended anything else is firewalled.

I'm mainly asking how it works, how to setup.

Like, if a linux game server crash, will that serverdoc on the windows restart it automatly like it does on windows?

And how to setup on linux ect?

Yes it will (should, or used to.. has not been tested in a long time)

You do not setup serverdoc on the linux box, just give the windows box telnet access to it.

Once you are able to say manually telnet into the linux box and run your server its time to put that command into serverdoc prefixed with LX:
(LX: tells serverdoc the command to run & monitor is on the linux server)

Hello agian.

Should the config be something like this?:

auth COD4 24 Slots
port xxx
user AllFromThisHost xxx
user AllFromThisHost xxx
ip 0.0.0.0
user xxx xxx 0 0
RUN lx:/client/0/COD4/cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip xx.xx.xx.xx +set net_port xxxxx +set sv_punkbuster 1 +set fs_game *SD1=* +exec *SD2=server.cfg* +map_rotate

And I've set the telnet and added user and password to the serverdoc.
But still I could not see it online by this.

*EDITD*
I checked the log, it keept crashing.. so I need to figerout that first.

telnet in using the user you configured in serverdoc and ensure you can run the command
/client/0/COD4/cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip xx.xx.xx.xx +set net_port xxxxx +set sv_punkbuster 1 +set fs_game *SD1=* +exec *SD2=server.cfg* +map_rotate

(change into the /client/0/COD4/ directory then run it)

I've been testing a little now.

The command line works on the windows server.
But I've edited it so it wors on linux too via SSH2.

The problem is like this:
01-15-2008 14:14:44 Started lx:/clients/0/COD4/cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip xx.xx.xx.xx +set net_port xxxxx +set sv_punkbuster 1 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate
01-15-2008 14:14:44 Crash - Restarting lx:/clients/0/COD4/cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip xx.xx.xx.xx +set net_port xxxxx +set sv_punkbuster 1 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate
01-15-2008 14:14:42 Telnet username sent
01-15-2008 14:14:39 Telnet username sent

I've checked the telnet, it works fine.
And running the server from SSH2 and telnet works fine.
So the problem must be around the serverdoc.

If you like to we could work this out somehow.
I kinda need serverdoc to work on linux...

Thanks, Johan.

More updates:

The log from linux says that Login Failed.
Thats like either it does something wrong on username or password.
Error:
an 15 16:25:28 openSUSE-103-64-minimal login[12144]: FAILED LOGIN 1 FROM xx.xx.xx.xx.reverse.xxxx.net FOR UNKNOWN, Benutzer bei zu Grunde liegendem Authentifizierungsmodul nicht bekannt

We checked with telnet on pc and that works fine from the pc.
And other guys recommend it to use SSH2, but I guess thats not a option?

Really need this to work if possible.

Thanks, Johan

Telnet in from the windows box but log the session so I can compare what serverdoc is going to expect to see vs what your terminal does.. (then email me the log) thanks.

Ah your a saving angle aint you?!

Works like magic now, thanks for the passwort tweak!

Will that tweak come in newier versions, so we dont need to keep the one we have or custom make each time?

Sorry for the trouble... you know.. german servers. :X
