I am a relatively new user to Serverdoc, have only been using it for a couple of months. But i have to say, while the program it's self is excellent, the updates are beyond horrible. This is only the second time my free version expires, but both times have been nothing but hell. The integrated updater does not work, the files are never posted on the forum, and the main page/download page have apparently not been updated in YEARS.

The first time around i figured i was forgetting something, as my serverdoc decided to work again on it's own after a few days of inactivity. But now i'm just about to give up as once again i cannot find the required update.

Am i missing something? Or is this whole site dead and i should just use something else?

What part is broken? Are you sure you are saving/renaming the file .exe to .bin?

There is a note linked to latest version on front page (it is the same download link). An update reminder note was emailed to the mailing list with link.

The files for download on the site are as follows:
Serverdoc.exe 1st of Jan 2011
sdv1_00_87.zip 1st of Jan 2011
Last front page news post
30th November 2010.

Update is always the very first listing on Downloads page:
#1 Serverdoc
Description: Latest serverdoc.exe. If you have not downloaded serverdoc before please download the full zip package below.
See latest serverdoc.exe thread in forum for info.
(Ignore below "added on" date & details - this is the latest)

Have you read:

Yes, i've renamed the file as explain in the faq. The updater creates a new .exe and claims to have successfully updated, but as soon as i try to relaunch the server, it once again says it requires an update. I have also tried deleting the outdated .exe in case it was not being replaced during the update, as well as rename the outdated .exe to .bin and place the freshly downloaded one in. The instructions aren't very clear as to which .exe you need to rename, your current one or the update. Though regardless, neither worked.

The latest version i see on the front page is V1.0.087, which does not work either. I did not know about the mailing list however.

My bad on the years, i confused myself with the dates of old articles and the patch notes thread. But still, i have tried every .exe i could find on this site, none of them have worked. They all seemingly update successfully, but expire as soon as i relaunch. I have even tried with a completely fresh install, still no luck.

You have me confused then, I've just downloaded from that link to a new folder, run "serverdoc notepad" and it worked fine. Confused Sad

I've once again tried to setup serverdoc from a fresh folder, and it still does not work. The difference now, is that it says -97 days left instead of -30.

Maybe a silly question... is your computer date/time correct?
Can you please confirm it is V1.00.087 you are running?

Hadn't thought of checking the date, but everything's fine there as well. The version is also correct.

I will try a reboot tomorrow when my servers are less crowded. Perhaps something else is interfering with serverdoc, and that's all it needs.

Restarting did not help, and it now says it expired -121 days ago.

Serverdoc now states it expired 183 days ago. No matter how many times i redownload and attempt to update, it just refuses to fix it's self like it did the first time.

I'm out of ideas and ready to give up.

Really strange - Serverdoc asks the kernel the date.. What OS are you running?

See if this returns the correct date info...

Mad hmm ok..
If you don't mind can you please run this serverdoc version:
http://www.serverdoc.com/temp/sd-date.exe
Where it says days left it will replace it with two dates (just run notepad or something to get it to update), let me know the two dates.
